'People are afraid' - the reasons 'unstoppable force' Arsenal have become the side to defeat.

It's obvious why Arsenal are now countless pundits' preferred choice to claim the Premier League this season.

Consider their performances against West Ham and Crystal Palace versus those same matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have defeated all of them during this campaign, but lost 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race last season.

Defensive Prowess

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are seeming ready to ultimately achieve their title target.

They rank top for shutouts (6), goals allowed (3), opposition efforts (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the strongest in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Excellence

Their threat from set-pieces is well known, but competing clubs still don't know how to stop the Gunners from these chances.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just wary of them and it is excellent to see."

Championship Claims

What is especially impressive about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they maintain victories, their long-standing opponents are struggling. This marks the first time at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on boss Mikel Arteta at the start, having invested around £250m on eight summer additions in pursuit of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the business has so far paid off in impressive fashion, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and boasting the tightest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Shutouts in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Over six hours without conceding a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across various contests

Former players and analysts have described Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now performing with conviction and resolve.
